Awards & Recognition

 

Professional Achievement Award

Purpose

To recognize significant specific contributions, achievements and individual and organizational efforts in the development and implementation of professional activities in the United States.


Form of Recognition

Engraved plaque.


Frequency

For individuals, as warranted by suitable accomplishments. For organizations, maximum of two annually.


Eligibility

Members and organizations of the engineering profession in the United States.

No current member of the IEEE Board of Directors, the IEEE-USA Board of Directors, the IEEE-USA Awards and Recognition Committee, or IEEE staff may be candidates, or nominate or endorse candidates for this award.


Nominations

Proposals for nominations of candidates for this award shall be made on nomination forms available from the IEEE-USA Office in Washington, D.C., or via the IEEE-USA web site.

Nominations are also solicited via publication of suitable notices in SPECTRUM, The INSTITUTE, and in Section and Society newsletters. In addition, a press release shall be made available to appropriate trade and technical publications outside the IEEE.


Basis for Judging

Selection shall be based on the dedication, effort and quality of an accomplishment achieved on individual effort in the development and implementation of professional activities in the United States.


Selections

The IEEE-USA Awards and Recognition Committee shall evaluate all nominations and shall select those which in their judgment reflect those contributions and achievements of individual efforts which are singularly significant in developing and implementing professional activities in the United States.


Presentation

Presentation of the award shall normally be made by the President of IEEE-USA or designee at major IEEE-USA conferences, such as the Professional Activities Conference.


Citation

A citation should be proposed by the person originating the nomination. It will be reviewed and modified as appropriate by the IEEE-USA Awards and Recognition Committee.
