Engineers Week Planning Kits Available

WASHINGTON (08 February 2008) — To help you promote engineers and engineering during Engineers Week (17-23 February), IEEE-USA has EWeek planning kits available.

The "DiscoverE" material suggests ways engineers can help students learn more about the practical applications of science, technology, engineering and math in the world around them. The "DiscoverE" program connects more than 45,000 engineers with 5.5 million students and teachers in classrooms and extracurricular activities.

"I encourage all U.S. IEEE members to participate in EWeek activities in their local communities," IEEE-USA President Russ Lefevre said. "By working with youngsters, you can help them realize the joys and wonders of engineering and perhaps spark an interest to become engineers."

The kits also contain EWeek and Introduce a Girl to Engineering posters, both of which have activities on the back. An EWeek 2008 product catalog is included.

To request your kit, contact Bernadette Concepcion at +1 202 530 8365 or b.concepcion@ieee.org.

The EWeek Online Catalog and Order Center has many other items available to help you plan EWeek activities in your community. See https://shop.eweek.org/eweek/.

IEEE-USA advances the public good and promotes the careers and public policy interests of more than 215,000 engineers, scientists and allied professionals who are U.S. members of the IEEE. IEEE-USA is part of the IEEE, the world's largest technical professional society with 370,000 members in 160 countries. See www.ieeeusa.org.
