IEEE-USA Statement on Rep. Boehlert's Retirement
Announcement

IEEE-USA today issued a statement in response to
the retirement announcement by House Science
Committee Chairman Rep. Sherwood Boehlert (R-N.Y.):
"IEEE-USA is saddened by Rep. Boehlert's
announcement that he will be retiring at the end
of the year after twelve terms in Congress
representing New York's 24th District. During
his tenure as House Science Committee chair,
Rep. Boehlert has been a champion for the
nation's science and technology enterprise, and
can reflect on a long and distinguished record
of accomplishment in promoting innovation,
education and the environment. At a time when
the United States faces new global challenges to
our technological competitiveness, Rep.
Boehlert's voice in Congress will be sorely
missed. We wish him the best in his future
endeavors."
Boehlert received IEEE-USA's Distinguished
Public Service Award in 1995.
