Cyberchase: Math in Science & Engineering
Teleconference
Set for 23 January, Activities Great for EWeek
WASHINGTON (24 January 2006)
— U.S. IEEE members and volunteers are
encouraged to sign up for a teleconference
promoting the Cyberchase: Math in Science &
Engineering program for children 8 to 11.
The call will familiarize you with Cyberchase,
the popular PBS math mystery cartoon series and
multimedia project that features a Web site,
educational materials and a presence in U.S.
after-school programs.
The teleconference is Jan. 23 at 1 p.m. EST.
Those who sign by Jan. 19 will receive an
activity guide, CD-ROM and DVD of Cyberchase
episodes in time for the call. The materials can
be used during Engineers Week (EWeek) 2006, Feb.
19-25, or at any time to help you explore with
children the many links between math, science
and engineering.
The activity guide features five activities to
help you use the appeal of the Cyberchase
TV series. The call will also tell you how to
build partnerships with local public television
stations and community groups.
Send an e-mail to Anne Squire at
asquire@nspe.org to receive the
teleconference agenda, background information
and activity guide. Put “January 23 Cyberchase”
in the subject line.
