2003 IEEE-USA Awards Recipients

WASHINGTON (05 March 2004) — IEEE-USA has unveiled its 2003 award winners in recognition of professional, technical and literary contributions to public awareness and understanding of the engineering profession in the United States.

These distinguished awards are administered under the IEEE-USA Awards and Recognition Committee and approved by the IEEE-USA Board of Directors.

Professional Awards

ROBERT S. WALLEIGH DISTINGUISHED CONTRIBUTIONS TO ENGINEERING PROFESSIONALISM AWARD

John R. Reinert
“For leadership as the first president of IEEE-USA, establishing the roles and responsibilities of the IEEE-USA President, and leading the organization through a critical period.”

DISTINGUISHED PUBLIC SERVICE

“For achievements as science and technology adviser to the Secretary of State, and efforts resulting in the establishment of IEEE-USA’s Engineering & Diplomacy Fellowship Program.”

PRECOLLEGE EDUCATION COMMITTEE TEACHER-ENGINEER PARTNERSHIP

“For establishing and implementing an outstanding precollege program to introduce students to engineering.”
