Engineering Licensure

IEEE-USA strongly encourages individuals to pursue engineering licensure, not only as a means of meeting the legal requirements for protecting the health, welfare and safety of the public, but also to ensure that they are prepared to meet the needs of international, national and state engineering practices.

	IEEE-USA Licensure & Registration Committee's primary focus is on matters involving licensing of Professional Engineers and the impact that professional licensure has on IEEE members.
	Ten Reasons to Become a Professional Engineer: This down-loadable Power Point presentation (58K) on engineering licensure is designed for junior and senior engineering students and for use at local IEEE Section meetings and IEEE Consultants’ Network meetings. It highlights legal requirements for engineering practice, the professional registration process, answers to common questions and exemptions for industrial practice.

	National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) promotes engineering licensure and ethics, enhancing the engineer image, advocating and protecting PEs' legal rights at the national and state levels, publishing news of the profession, providing continuing education opportunities, and more.
